Information concerning recent mailing regarding the Pension Trust Fund
You recently received mail from the I.A.T.S.E. Local 16 Pension Trust Fund called “Notice to Interested Parties.” Many of you have called the Trust Fund office to inquire about the meaning of the Notice. Please do not be alarmed as this is a routine filing. Here’s what the mailing is all about.
The IATSE Local 16 Pension Trust Fund Plan is required by the I.R.S. to apply for a new determination letter regarding its qualified status once every five years. Part of the filing requires that we notify the participants and beneficiaries of the Plan so they can send a comment if they wish to the EP Determination Board. A favorable determination letter from the I.R.S. signifies that the Plan is compliant with current laws and regulations, and therefore, may retain its tax-qualified status.

Voice your support for the Preserve Benefits and Jobs Act of 2009
Congressmen Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) and Pat Tiberi (R-OH) introduced new legislation that will provide pension funding relief which will enable employers to retain and grow their workforce. In the wake of the historic economic downturn, many employers face pension costs that are double, or more, of those in 2008. The Preserve Benefits and Jobs Act will provide the funding relief necessary to help restore defined benefit pension plans to soundness over time, keeping employers from having to either freeze their pension plans or cut their workforce to make up for pension losses.
Check this page for info on how you can get involved with this important legislation.

This is an insurance policy that you and your employers have paid for.
There is no shame in collecting your benefit.
Also, tip of the day:
If you need to call them, and you can’t get through on the English line, try one of the lesser used language lines.
Those agents are less busy and sometimes you can actually get through.
